We went to youth clubs along the network to find out about the lives of young people across the south of England… Each episode is hosted by a different youth club and they tell us all about the area.
-
Trackside is built on the idea that every stop has a story.
-
We partnered with Great Western Railway (GWR) and South Western Railway (SWR) to bring those stories to life through the voices of young people living along the network.
-
Rather than telling those stories ourselves, we handed over the mic. Our team travelled out to youth clubs across the south of England, working directly with young people to capture what their communities are really like – unfiltered, local, and full of personality.
-
Each episode is shaped around a different location, but the structure stays loose and responsive. We build the narrative from what we hear on the ground, letting each group lead the tone, the topics, and what they want to share about where they live.
-
Recording on location brings a different energy. There’s background noise, real conversations, and a sense of place that you just can’t fake in a studio and we lean into that to keep every episode feeling authentic.
-
The result is a series that feels genuinely rooted in place—co-created with young people, supported by GWR and SWR, and produced entirely in-house to showcase the diversity of life across the railway network.
